How Fast Can You Click Test

Most people click about 6 to 8 times per second. Take the test and find out where you land.

How many times can you click in 5 seconds?

Click or tap the box as fast as you can. The timer starts on your first click.

The short answer

Most people can click about 6 to 8 times per second with normal clicking. That is one finger pressing one button at a comfortable but fast pace. On this site, anything from 6 to 8.9 CPS is rated Average.

Scores above that are possible. From 9 to 10.9 is Above average and 11 to 13.9 is Fast. Reaching 14 or more, rated Exceptional, usually takes a deliberate technique such as jitter clicking or butterfly clicking, where vibration or two fingers do part of the work.

So the honest answer to how fast can you click is: probably in the 6 to 8 range today, with room to move.

What limits your speed

A few things set your ceiling.

Your finger. Each click needs a press and a release. The finger can only reverse direction so quickly, and that sets a natural limit for one finger clicking.

Tension. A tight hand feels fast for a moment but stiffens quickly. Relaxed clickers keep their pace for longer.

Fatigue. Over five seconds your forearm starts to tire. Longer tests show this more clearly, which is why scores fall as the test gets longer.

Technique. Normal clicking, jitter clicking and two finger methods each have a different ceiling.

Equipment. A heavy button, a worn switch or a weak wireless connection can cost you clicks your hand did make.

How to find your own number

One run is not enough to know your speed, because scores move from run to run. Use this routine instead:

  1. Sit comfortably and rest your finger on the left button.
  2. Press Start test. Your first click inside the box starts the five second timer.
  3. Click at the fastest pace you can keep even.
  4. Repeat until you have five runs, resting briefly between them.
  5. Read the average in the Your scores panel.

That average is your real answer. Your best run shows your peak.

Your history stays in this browser, with your best, average, attempts and a trend chart. Come back after a week of short practice sessions and run the same routine. If the average has risen, you are clicking faster. You can view results across tests on your dashboard, test a single burst with the CPS test 1 second, or learn two finger clicking with the butterfly click test.
